▍Heat injury prevention 3 approaches
In Taiwan, excessive outdoor temperatures can easily lead to heat injuries and heat stroke hasa fatality rate of up to 80%. Follow the three approaches below to avoid heat injury
Remain cool-Wear light colored clothes, light and breathable clothing, where possible remain indoors or in shaded cool areas. Try to avoid being in direct sunlight from 10am to 2pm.
Remain hydrated-Be sure to drink enough fluids. Anyone working or exercising outdoors should drink 2-4 glasses of water each hour (240cc per glass).
Enhance awareness-Individuals working outdoors should pay attention to the physical wellbeing of themselves and their colleagues. Anyone in an enclosed high temperature indoor environment should pay attention to ventilation and remaining hydrated. Individuals engaged in care work should be aware that seniors find it harder to adapt to high temperatures, and where possible ensure they remain in indoor locations that are cool and well ventilated.
